Woman Formerly Addicted To Vaping Survives Severe Lung Damage

Jordan Brielle's severe dependency on vaping led to a life-threatening medical emergency that resulted in the collapse of her lungs, Daily Mail reported.

Jordan Brielle, a 32-year-old from Cincinnati, Ohio, found her life in peril following a transition from smoking to vaping in 2021. Having smoked since her teenage years, she viewed vaping as a safer alternative, only to develop a profound addiction that demanded around $500 every week to sustain.

By November 2023, Jordan began to experience alarming symptoms—a persistent, debilitating heaviness in her chest—but continued her vaping habit despite frequent trips to the hospital. She describes her addiction as so intense that the vape was a constant presence, accompanying her even in the shower.

Unresponsive and Emergency Admission to Hospital

The situation took a dire turn in May 2024 when someone found her unresponsive at home, with black mucus pouring from her nose and mouth. Her partner quickly rushed her to a hospital, where medical professionals faced a grim scene.

Doctors discovered and subsequently removed two liters of a black, viscous fluid from her lungs. To save her life, they placed her in a medically induced coma for 11 days. Jordan, reflecting on her ordeal at the hospital, said the substance in her lungs resembled "concrete," and was both black and bloody.

Despite surviving this harrowing experience, Jordan suffered a minor brain injury due to oxygen deprivation and was left with severe lung damage. Her recovery post-coma was fraught with challenges, underscored by a stark warning from doctors about the probability of her lungs collapsing again.

Jordan Brielle's Life-Altering Experience

Her brush with death served as a drastic catalyst for change. Jordan has since ceased vaping entirely. She noted poignantly, "They saved my life. They told me if I'd waited any longer, I wouldn't have been here. I haven't touched a vape since."

Now, Jordan dedicates part of her time to cautioning others about the dangers associated with vaping. She urges people to quit for the sake of their health, families, and future, using her terrifying experience as a grave example of the potential consequences.

According to her: "Do it for your health, your family, your life, your lungs - whatever motivates you, use that reason and stop. I wouldn't wish what I'd been through on anyone else. I feel grateful to be alive."

Inspiration and Warnings From A Survivor

This life-changing experience has propelled her to advocate against vaping, emphasizing its risks and potentially lethal outcomes. The financial, physical, and emotional toll it took on her life cannot be understated, and now Jordan hopes to inspire others to reconsider their vaping habits with her story.

While she has stopped using vape products, the long-term effects on her health remain uncertain. Her doctors continue to monitor her condition closely due to the severity of the damage to her lungs and the ongoing risks highlighted during her recovery.

Stories like Jordan's are becoming increasingly common, raising concerns about the safety of vaping. Medical professionals and health organizations emphasize caution, urging individuals to consider the potential health ramifications of inhaling substances whose long-term effects are still only partially understood.

A Call To Action For Public Health

Jordan's ordeal is not an isolated case, signaling a growing need for comprehensive understanding and regulation regarding vaping products. As more people fall victim to severe health issues from vaping, the call for clear guidelines and stricter control becomes louder within communities across the nation.

Her story serves not only as a cautionary tale but also as a stark reminder of the health crises potentially looming over users of these increasingly popular devices. Jordan, once a victim, now stands as a powerful voice advocating for change and health over habit.
