Taylor Swift is reportedly no longer on speaking terms with Blake Lively after being unwillingly pulled into Lively’s ongoing legal feud with actor Justin Baldoni.
According to Page Six, the years-long friendship between Swift and Lively has reportedly ended over claims that Lively tried to use the pop icon’s influence in a countersuit involving serious allegations tied to the film “It Ends With Us.”
The rift originates from a lawsuit filed by Lively against Baldoni in December 2024, in which she accused the actor of sexual harassment during production of the movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover's novel. Baldoni, who also served as a producer, denied the allegations and filed a $400 million countersuit the following month.
In his legal response, Baldoni accused Lively of attempting to use Swift’s personal and public stature to her advantage. According to documents submitted in January 2025, Baldoni claimed Lively misused her high-profile relationships, particularly with Swift, in efforts to gain influence over the project’s perception and behind-the-scenes negotiations.
As tensions escalated, Baldoni’s attorneys alleged in early May that Lively’s legal team threatened to release private messages with Swift unless the singer made a public show of support. These allegations, though serious, were denied by Lively’s lead attorney, Michael Gottlieb, who dismissed them as “cowardly” and without basis.
A spokesperson for Swift released a detailed statement clarifying that the singer had no involvement in either the development or production of “It Ends With Us.” The statement explained that Swift never participated in casting decisions, creative input, score composition, or on-set visits, and in fact did not view the finished film until well after its public release.
Despite being unrelated to the film, Swift was briefly subpoenaed by Baldoni’s legal team. However, on May 22, 2025, that order was dropped after Baldoni’s lawyers said they had “voluntarily received” the information they were seeking.
The incident marked a major turning point for Swift, who has reportedly found the experience emotionally tolling and now views the relationship with Lively as manipulated and damaging. An insider told the Daily Mail that Swift feels a strong sense of regret about her longtime connection with the actress.
Sources familiar with the matter have characterized Swift’s reaction as one of betrayal, noting that she is now relieved to have ended the relationship. “She put up with Blake’s antics for too long because she’s a loyal friend,” one source stated, adding that the drama surrounding the film finally pushed Swift to walk away for good.
Another source alleged that Swift “can now see all the red flags” that were present in the friendship, affirming that the legal controversy had exposed dynamics Swift had previously overlooked.
Swift’s partner, NFL star Travis Kelce, is said to be standing firmly by her side. Reports indicate that he unfollowed Blake Lively’s husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, on Instagram shortly after the allegations involving Swift surfaced earlier this year.
Swift and Lively had maintained a public friendship for nearly a decade, frequently supporting each other at high-profile events and sharing warm messages on social media. That seemingly close bond now appears severely fractured, with accounts stating that the couple has made a decisive break from both Lively and Reynolds.
“Taylor and Travis are disgusted with Blake and Ryan and how they tried to use Taylor in their fight against Justin Baldoni,” said one insider familiar with their decision. The same source stressed that the couple views the separation as final and has no plans to rekindle the friendship.
In addition, sources told media outlets that although there were many “good times” in the Swift-Lively friendship, the negative impact of the Baldoni controversy has outweighed those memories. The events of recent months have reportedly caused Swift to reevaluate the dynamics of the relationship in retrospect.
In response to the allegations, Lively's attorney, Michael Gottlieb, maintained a firm denial. “We unequivocally deny all of these so-called allegations,” he said, challenging claims that Lively’s team had threatened exposure of private material related to Swift.
Still, despite public denials from Lively’s legal representatives, Swift’s team appears confident in separating her public image from the ongoing legal case. Her representative’s comprehensive statement emphasized her physical and creative distance from the project in question, synchronizing with Swift’s global Eras Tour at the time of the movie’s production.
While the legal proceedings between Lively and Baldoni continue, Swift has reportedly turned her focus to healing from what insiders describe as an emotionally taxing ordeal. The breakdown of the friendship has become a side note in a larger, high-stakes legal conflict—but one that has nonetheless made waves in Hollywood circles.
