According to the New York Post, the recent unveiling shows a face that resonates with the traditional images of Santa Claus while firmly rooted in historical accuracy.
Saint Nicholas of Myra, who lived during the fourth century and passed away in 343 A.D., has long been a figure shrouded in myth and has played a pivotal role in shaping the festive legends of gift-giving that surround Christmas. Initially, his remains were buried in Myra, modern-day Turkey, before they were transferred to Bari, Italy. "We supplemented this with the anatomical deformation technique, where we adjusted the topography of a living person’s head to match that of the saint," Moraes detailed. Moraes, along with José Luís Lira and Thiago Beaini, co-wrote the detailed study, explaining both the methodology and the findings.
