In a disappointing turn of events, Justin Timberlake canceled the final concert of his North American tour in Columbus, Ohio, citing severe flu.
According to People, Justin Timberlake was forced to call off the last show of the North American segment of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour due to health issues, marking the third time health concerns have disrupted his tour schedule.
The "Cry Me a River" singer took to Instagram on Thursday, Feb 27, to announce the cancellation of his much-anticipated concert. This final U.S. show had already been rescheduled from its original late October slot because of Timberlake's struggles with bronchitis and laryngitis.
In his Instagram update, Timberlake revealed the gravity of his condition, stating, "You guys, I’m heartbroken. I have to cancel the show tonight."
He shared his disappointment and promises to audiences, adding, “It kills me to disappoint you and my team who worked so hard to make this show happen. I want to reassure you, you’ll be getting refunds for your tickets. I love you all.”
Timberlake's health issues began to surface publicly during the earlier phase of the tour. On October 7, the artist performed at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, a highlight event of his tour, which commenced on April 29, 2024, in Vancouver.
In mid-October, Timberlake took to social media to inform his followers of his health condition. “Hey guys - I haven’t been feeling great the last few shows and turns out I have bronchitis and laryngitis. I’m so sorry to say I do need to reschedule the next few shows from 10/23 through 11/2—new dates listed above. Thank you for understanding - I’ll make it up to you ❤️🩹 - JT,” he posted.
Despite these earlier challenges, fans were hopeful as Timberlake was nearing the end of his North American journey. He even posted, “Only one more show to go… and I wanted to take a minute to shout out this incredible tour family. These are the people who keep this whole thing running. You guys don’t get to see everyone on stage, but without every single person in this picture - none of this would be possible. So much love. Let’s do it ONE MORE TIME tomorrow night in Columbus.” However, worsening flu symptoms ultimately led to the cancellation.
Justin Timberlake's world tour, promoting his album "Everything I Thought It Was," released in March 2024, has been an ambitious project following his 2018 release, "Man in the Woods." The reveal of his tour and latest album took place during his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in January 2024.
Despite the setbacks in North America, the tour is scheduled to resume on March 21 in Buenos Aires and conclude on July 20 in Paris. This global itinerary underscores the scale of Timberlake's latest musical venture.
Aside from his world tour, Timberlake will perform at BottleRock Napa Valley in Napa, California, on May 24, promising fans more opportunities to see him live in the coming months.
Response from fans to the cancellation has been largely sympathetic, with supportive messages flooding in on social media. One fan from California expressed, “I Flew in from CA but you know what… your health comes first. True fans know that. Love you. Feel better,” reflecting the understanding and patience of his fanbase amid these health challenges.
Timberlake's commitment to his craft and his conscientious relationship with his fans have been evident throughout the tour. Promising refunds and expressing regret over cancellations show his dedication to his audience's satisfaction and well-being.
Fans eagerly anticipate the resumption of the Forget Tomorrow World Tour in Buenos Aires, hoping for Timberlake's fast recovery and a smooth continuation of his international performances.
