Ink Master Star Ryan Hadley Succumbs to Cancer at 46

Ryan Hadley, known for his standout appearance on Ink Master season six, passed away at 46 following a prolonged battle with cancer.

Despite intense medical efforts, Hadley’s condition deteriorated, deeply affecting his family and the tattooing community.

Hadley died on Thursday evening, having fought against a seminoma, a type of germ cell tumor that began as testicular cancer and metastasized. An announcement on his Instagram page on Friday shared the somber news, accompanied by a black and white photo showing him at work tattooing a client.

Tattoo Community Mourns Influential Figure

Hadley leaves behind two sons, both under 13. His journey with cancer began in December, supported by a GoFundMe campaign initiated by his family. Expressing his determination to survive for his children, Hadley documented his treatments and struggles on social media.

In a poignant Instagram post, Hadley wrote about his commitment to fighting the illness and his unwillingness to leave his children. He embarked on chemotherapy but sadly, by early 2024, the cancer had spread to his lungs and liver, rendering the treatments ineffective.

By late April, Hadley announced candidly on social media that his illness was terminal. He acknowledged the inevitable while expressing deep sorrow over the impact on his children, a pain that overshadowed even the fear of death itself.

Farewell Messages and Continued Dedication to Art

Despite the grim prognosis, Hadley continued to work and share his tattoo art until his final days. He attended the Hell City Tattoo Festival in Columbus, Ohio, in May, maintaining his professional dedication. He posted a final video of a recent tattoo on May 30, showing his unwavering spirit.

Hadley’s loved ones have started collecting funds for his end-of-life expenses, extending gratitude for the support received over the years. “Ryan left this world last night surrounded by loved ones,” read the carefully worded announcement on his Instagram.

The message continued, honoring Hadley’s legacy in both the art and tattoo worlds, highlighting his love for fans, friends, clients, and especially his children. It concluded with a solemn note that he “will be missed and always remembered.”

Legacy of a Resilient Artist

Reflecting on his resilient spirit, Hadley posted in January after beginning chemotherapy, voicing his resolve and care for his children. “I’m only 45yrs and I’m not ready to leave here yet,” he declared with determination. Yet by late April, with the cancer spreading aggressively, he shared, “this is a non-treatable cancer in my liver...death is the outcome.”

The heartfelt posts continued, emphasizing his acceptance of death but his agony over abandoning his children. He promised to provide updates but confessed he would soon sign off permanently. His narrative struck a powerful chord with followers and the tattoo community, showcasing bravery amidst personal and health struggles.

“Ryan would like to thank everyone for their support over the years,” his loved ones concluded in the announcement. His pride in his work, even during his fight with cancer, resonated deeply with all who knew or admired him.

Ryan Hadley’s passing is a significant loss to the tattoo community and beyond. His works and his words remain a testament to his passion, love for his family, and determination in the face of insurmountable challenges.
