Buc-ee’s, the Texas-based convenience store chain lauded for its sprawling travel centers and bright-clean facilities, is making its way into new territory this summer.
In summer 2025, Buc-ee’s will open three locations across Mississippi, Virginia, and Georgia—marking the first-ever openings in Virginia and Mississippi as the company expands its national footprint, Fox Business reported.
The first opening is scheduled for June 9 in Harrison County, Mississippi. This branch will become Buc-ee's premier Mississippi location and the first of the brand’s three-site rollout for the summer. With a footprint of 74,000 square feet, it will employ approximately 200 workers and feature 100 gas pumps along with 20 charging stations for electric vehicles.
Later in the month, Buc-ee’s will unveil its first-ever store in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Rockingham County location is set to open its doors on June 30, bringing the company farther northeast than ever before. It will be roughly a 2.5-hour drive west of Washington, D.C.
The Virginia location represents an over $60 million investment and will span a massive 74,000 square feet. Once complete, the facility will offer over 120 gas fueling spots, 600 parking spaces, and 20 electric vehicle chargers. It’s expected to create employment opportunities for around 200 people in the region.
Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin publicly expressed his support at the groundbreaking of the Rockingham County site in early 2024, calling the development a win for local employment. “I look forward to stopping by for some Beaver Nuggets soon,” he posted on X, referring to a popular Buc-ee’s snack item.
Rockingham County officials also welcomed the development on social media, thanking Buc-ee’s for choosing the region as the site for its first store in Virginia. Construction on the site began in early 2024, signaling the chain’s commitment to a timely opening.
Known for its emphasis on cleanliness, corporate branding, and in-house food offerings, Buc-ee’s aims to attract motorists and road trippers throughout the country. Its strategic proximity to populated urban centers allows the new Virginia location to serve an entirely new regional market.
In Mississippi, the company adds its Harrison County location to its expanding lineup of massive roadside stops. The facility’s 100 fueling stations and 20 EV chargers accommodate high-volume traffic, catering to both long-haul drivers and local commuters.
The chain will debut its first store in Mississippi and expects to create 200 new jobs in the area. The project, slated to open on June 9, 2025, aligns with Buc-ee’s broader strategy to expand gradually but with high impact across the southern United States.
Mississippi’s entry into the Buc-ee’s portfolio further exemplifies the brand’s evolving presence outside of its Texas origins, where it gained a reputation for offering an elevated travel stop experience.
The company scheduled the final summer opening in Brunswick, Georgia. This third Buc-ee’s site in the state will open to guests on July 1, 2025. Although the company has released fewer build-out details, adding this location signals growing regional demand in the southeastern U.S.
Located about five hours southeast of Atlanta, the Brunswick site will support supplemental traffic heading to and from Georgia’s coast. While the store may not be the first in the state, its strategic location aims to capture a new flow of motorists.
The Georgia expansion comes as Buc-ee’s continues building a nationwide reputation, using Georgia as a link between new markets in Virginia and existing strongholds in Florida and Alabama.
Founded in Texas, Buc-ee’s distinguishes itself from other convenience store chains with lavishly large buildings, dozens of fueling lanes, and a strong emphasis on customer experience. In fact, its commitment to restroom cleanliness has even garnered national attention and praise from frequent travelers.
Moreover, stores feature freshly prepared food items made in-store, ranging from barbeque sandwiches to fudge. Additionally, branded merchandise depicting the iconic Buc-ee the beaver mascot has become a hallmark of the retail space in each travel center.
With each expansion, the chain aims to replicate its successful business model in locations carefully chosen for high visibility and strong highway traffic. Consequently, each new site’s opening brings hundreds of new jobs and millions in economic investment to host communities.
