A new book has ignited controversy with allegations about former President Donald Trump's private jet conversation aimed at a pregnant Congresswoman.
According to the US Sun, the controversy centers on disputed claims that Donald Trump offered a resting space to Rep. Anna Paulina Luna under secretive terms.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, a Republican from Florida's 13th congressional district and a former Air Force member, became the focus of contentious allegations. "Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power," a book detailing Trump's political resurgence, claims that during the summer of 2023, Trump allegedly offered Luna a bed on his plane on the condition that his wife, Melania Trump, must not be informed.
According to the book, Trump made this supposed offer while Luna was experiencing pre-eclampsia during her pregnancy, a condition that can cause severe complications.
The book quotes Trump as saying to Luna, "If you need a bed to lay down in, there’s one here on the plane. If you feel sick and you need to lay there, you can lay on it. Just don't tell Melania. She doesn't like other women on my bed." This statement has stirred various reactions, focusing on the propriety of the offer and the conditions attached.
Luna has fervently defended Trump, stating that he acted out of compassion given her medical state. She described the offer as respectful, made in the presence of her husband and medical staff on the plane.
She expressed gratitude for Trump's consideration, noting, "This was the most compassionate thing that could’ve been done at the time."
Luna openly criticized both the book and its author, Alex Isenstadt, while addressing the claims. She criticized the work as "trash" and found the narrative harmful to the image of all involved. Her main contention was that the book unfairly represented a seemingly innocent act.
“I seldom respond to nasty headlines because I don’t like giving trash credibility, however, being that there is allegedly a book coming out with me named and attacking Potus, his marriage, our first lady, and frankly implying something distasteful about me, I am responding," Luna conveyed.
She also highlighted the presence of her husband during the interaction which added to her assurance of the propriety of the arrangement offered by Trump.
The response from the White House was similarly dismissive of the book’s contents. Steven Cheung, the White House communications director, criticized the publication as a "work of fiction," aligning with Luna’s condemnation of the narrative presented.
Luna added a stern warning for White House officials potentially fueling such stories, suggesting firm action against them. "If people in the POTUS orbit are talking to this author, they need to be cut off immediately. This is gross," she remarked.
