Manufacturers have issued recent recalls for two popular food items due to the risk they pose to consumers allergic to eggs.
According to Fox News, Products sold at Whole Foods and H Mart are being recalled after it was discovered they contain undeclared eggs.
Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that "Small Bites Macaroni & Cheese" and "Jinga Glass Noodles with Vegetables" have started a recall process. These products, found at Whole Foods Market and H Mart respectively, contain undeclared eggs, a serious risk for those with allergies.
The manufacturer, C.H. Guenther & Son LLC, initiated the recall of "Small Bites Macaroni & Cheese" after customer complaints prompted an investigation. The investigation revealed that the product not only contained undeclared eggs but also undisclosed meat, which expanded the group of affected consumers.
Whole Foods Market stores across the nation received shipments of these macaroni bites. The product carries the UPC 99482499709 and a "best-by" date of November 29, 2025. Retailers are contacting customers who purchased the product between February 6, 2025, and March 11, 2025, and urging them to take necessary action.
To date, no health incidents related to the consumption of "Small Bites" have been documented. The company urges customers who purchased the product to either destroy it or return it to the place of purchase with a valid receipt for a full refund.
In response to the recall, C.H. Guenther & Son LLC has taken steps to ensure such an oversight does not recur. The company has reviewed and revised its ingredient verification processes to bolster its safety protocols. Additionally, they have emphasized their commitment to consumer health and safety through improved communication channels and product labeling accuracy.
The recall announcement stresses the importance for consumers with egg allergies to avoid consuming the affected product due to the potential for severe allergic reactions, as outlined by the FDA guidelines.
Customer service representatives of Whole Foods and C.H. Guenther & Son LLC are actively assisting consumers and providing necessary information on how to proceed with returning the products and receiving refunds.
Simultaneously, HAR Maspeth Corporation issued a recall for its "Jinga Glass Noodles with Vegetables" due to undeclared eggs discovered during a routine retail inspection by New York State's Department of Agriculture. This product was available primarily at H Mart locations in multiple states.
The glass noodles are packaged in 8-ounce and 12-ounce sizes with "best-by" dates ranging from March 13, 2025, to March 18, 2025. The differing UPCs for these packages are 265405006495, 267405004495, 266405008496, and 268405005499, respectively.
Like with the macaroni bites, officials have not reported any illnesses or allergic reactions associated with the Jinga Noodles thus far.
Both companies take this situation seriously and cooperate with FDA regulations to expedite the recall process. Authorities urge consumers who have the recalled products to return them to the place of purchase.
HAR Maspeth Corporation warns that customers with egg allergies who consumed the Jinga Noodles may experience serious or life-threatening reactions. Customers can receive refunds if they return the noodles with an appropriate sales receipt.
These recalls highlight the ongoing challenges food manufacturers face in ingredient disclosure and emphasize the critical importance of accurate product labeling. Whole Foods and H Mart prioritize consumer safety and timely communication as they navigate the recall process and ensure compliance with FDA safety standards.
