Music legend Rod Stewart has canceled his landmark 200th show at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas due to strep throat, which has left both fans and the artist disappointed.
According to the New York Post, Stewart canceled the much-anticipated final show of his long-term Las Vegas residency, scheduled for August 7, 2024. He announced the cancellation on his social media platforms, including Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). As a result, the show, which was set to mark the end of a 13-year residency, represented a significant milestone for Stewart.
In addition, the August 7th performance not only would have been his 200th show but also would have symbolized the end of an era at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
Rod Stewart expressed his frustration and regret: “I’m desperately sorry to miss this 200th show celebration,” he said. “Most people can work with strep throat but not me. I’m gutted. I’ve been looking forward to this concert for so long.” Consequently, his comments highlighted the event's significance for both his fans and himself.
Stewart added, “My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused. Thankfully we’ll now be returning in 2025 and I hope to see you all there.” Therefore, his reassurance shows his commitment to return to the stage despite this setback.
Rod Stewart recently performed in Copenhagen and attended notable events, including the 50th Anniversary Party of Mark's Club in London and the 1st anniversary of Wolfie’s Whisky. Consequently, he remains active in entertainment and has discussed how aging has influenced his voice and performance stamina.
“I’m not like I was in the ’70s and ’80s and I can’t stay up all night, get drunk and go mad, and still have a voice just like that. Nowadays I have to protect my voice before and after every show,” Stewart explained, thereby highlighting his evolved approach to health and performing.
